SCP UPDATE FAQ

SCP is proud to announce updates to its security courseware and certification programs. The SCP’s priority is to change and evolve, alongside the security industry. Please read this page carefully to learn about all the exciting updates taking place with the SCP.

SCP COURSEWARE UPDATES

SCP is introducing two new courseware titles. These two titles are, Tactical Perimeter Defense (TPD) and Strategic Infrastructure Security (SIS). These two titles have been introduced to coincide with the retirement of our current courses, Hardening The Infrastructure (HTI) and Network Defense and Countermeasures (NDC).

The new courses are available for purchase from our publishing partner, ElementK. To purchase, link from the SCP bookstore, by clicking here.

The first of these new courses, Tactical Perimeter Defense (TPD) is designed as a 40-hour, instructor-led course, filled with the hands-on labs that people have come to expect from the SCP. Full details, including the course outline, can be found here: Tactical Perimeter Defense Course.

The second of the new courses, Strategic Infrastructure Security (SIS) is also designed to be a 40-hour, instructor-led course, and is again loaded with intense hands-on labs. Full details, including course outline, can be found here: Strategic Infrastructure Security Course.

SCP CERTIFICATION UPDATES

Along with the release of the two new course titles, SCP is pleased to announce the creation of a new SCP Certification. For individuals who successfully pass the first SCP exam (TPD), a new credential, the Security Certified Network Specialist (SCNS) will be awarded.

The SCNS will be a required pre-requisite for those candidates looking to advance on towards their SCNP and SCNA certifications.

In order to effectively address our customers’ needs, there is also a change to the SCNP certification. The new SCNP certification will require candidates to hold the SCNS, in good standing, and to successfully pass one exam (SIS).

SCP EXAM UPDATES

With the new SCP Courseware, and the SCP Certification Updates, there are some changes to the SCP exams as well. The first two current SCP exams, HTI and NDC are in the process of being retired. These two exams will no longer be available July 31, 2007.

The first new exam, Tactical Perimeter Defense (SC0-451), will be available through both Prometric and VUE testing centers, and is the required exam for the SCNS certification.

The second new exam, Strategic Infrastructure Security (SC0-471) will be available through both Prometric and VUE testing centers, and is the required exam for the SCNP certification.
