Geneva, IL. USA – February
16, 2007–
The Security Certified Program today announced its new course descriptions.
The week of February
19th, we will be releasing two new Security Certified Program courses to
replace Hardening the Infrastructure and Network Defense and Countermeasures.
The new titles will be Tactical Perimeter Defense, which will prepare
students for our new Security Certified Network Specialist certification, and Strategic
Infrastructure Security, which will map to the Security Certified Network
Professional certification. These Instructor-Led courses will be 5 days each,
with intense, practical labs. Consistent with our prior releases, our
courseware will continue to provide you with the finest hands-on, real world
training for security administration containing many of the comprehensive
concepts that were so popular in our previous courses.
Tactical Perimeter Defense
The first Security Certified Program (SCP) security course is a must have course for any network technician that has even the slightest privileged access to a network. Our five day instructor-Led course will help students understand the basics of defending a network from the outside in.
For the first time ever, based on feedback from our customers and Authorized Training Partners, SCP will offer a new certification for passing the test for Tactical Perimeter Defense. The certification is called Security Certified Network Specialist (SCNS).
Tactical Perimeter Defense replaces the old Hardening the Infrastructure course. The new Tactical Perimeter Defense course use Windows Server 2003 as the base operating system. We also discuss SUSE Linux and ISA Server as a firewall solution.
The SCNS exam is designed to validate the foundational skills required by security professionals. These skills include, but are not limited to: Network Defense Fundamentals, Advanced TCP/IP, Routers and Access Control Lists, Designing Firewalls, Configuring Firewalls, Configuring Virtual Private Networks, Designing an Intrusion Detection System, Configuring an Intrusion Detection System and Securing Wireless Networks.

The Strategic Infrastructure Security course picks up right where Tactical Perimeter Defense leaves off. This course teaches you about prevention techniques as well as giving the candidate an understanding of risk analysis and security policy creation in a blended technology environment. The up-to-date security lessons and intense, hands-on labs bring a real world network security to training candidates.
