Geneva, Illinois USA – October 20616th, 2006 - Security Certified Program today announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs has added the Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP) and Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA) exams to their approved list of technical exams under the GI Bill. The reimbursement process can be done completed through any local VA Regional Processing Office.

Security Certified Program (SCP) develops and validates the security implementation skills of information technology professionals.  SCP’s certification exams enable candidates to become certified as a Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP) or a Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA).  The focus of SCNP is on system defense using technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection, and virtual private networks. SCNA concentrates on trusted communication and emerging security technologies like public key infrastructure (PKI), biometrics, and smartcards.

“Our team is ready to help our US Military military veterans learn more about SCP and offer any support needed to help them reach their certification goals and career objectives.  This approval by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs potentially gives every veteran the opportunity to test for our security certifications,” said Mark Patrick, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for SCP.

This new certification benefit is reimbursable under Chapter 30 (Montgomery G.I. Bill-Active Duty), 32 (VEAP), and 35 (Dependents' Educational Assistance) of Title 38 and section 903 of PL 96-342.  This benefit is not payable under Chapter 1606 of Title 10 (Montgomery G.I. Bill - Selected Reserve).

Protecting critical IT infrastructure is vital to every organization. The hands-on courses and certification exams that offer will help  IT professional do a better job of securing their network. This includes US Veterans that now work for or with the Department of Defense.  The DoD has taken a proactive role in securing its data by releasing Directive 8570.1.  Any IT personnel who works for or are contracted by, the DoD are required to complete specific levels of security training. SCP’s certifications help meet the requirements of Tech Levels 2 and 3.”
